Takeaway Theory:
Overpairs and TPTK costs me a LOT of money. I have recently made some tweaks to my play in order to lose the least when my seemingly good hand loses to monsters. I will not ignore the possibility of my brain just being a bit results oriented from my recent runs. But, playing with single pairs proves to be extremely difficult. My goal is to get to the showdown as cheap as possible.

Here are a couple of scenarios you find yourself in with one top/over pair:

Preflop:
You may be raising from any position with face cards, pocket pairs that lead to a number of post flop scenarios. I think of how you will play JJ differently UTG from the button. From the button, I will have the freedom to cbet most flops even with the ~50% chance of an overcard coming. If I get a caller, I have the ability to then control the post size on the turn and get to a reasonably sized pot on the showdown. UTG, I will be stuck with cbetting too many boards that have potential to get a call. Pot size becomes uncontrollable from that location.

Postflop:
- vs nothing
- vs same pair, lower kicker
- vs higher overpair
- vs FD, SD
- vs two pair/set

I feel like it is worthless to discuss my postflop play without sticking some validating statistics on each scenario. The overall gist of it goes like this though:

High aggression with TP on flop and turn:
vs nothing you bet the flop, its likely you get a fold, you win
vs same pair, you bet the flop, you probably get called. you bet the turn, it probably doesnt feel so good, so it folds.
vs overpair, you bet the flop it raises some of the time, it just calls some of the time. you bet the turn, it is likely to call, you are behind. river check check you lose
vs draws, you bet the flop, theres a low chance its folding, a much higher chance its calling, and a mid-chance its raising. on the turn, against a raise, its hard to continue. if you bet the turn and get a call, how much are you actually gaining here?
vs two pair/set. you bet the flop, you are likely to get raised, though a lot like to call then raise the turn...either way, its a substantial loss.

High aggression/high release on flop, low aggression on turn, thoughtful aggression/ loose calls on river:
vs nothing, bet flop win
vs same pair, bet flop. induce confusion on turn, get value on river
vs overpair, bet flop, pot control on turn, river plays itself
vs draws, bet flop, check turn, call bluffs/completed draws on river
vs twopair/set, bet flop, release or prevent the large turn rr and loose call on river.

I got a little lazy when writing this, I apologize for that. I am sure I am not done with this issue. I may return to this in the future and think that I am just donk calling off in too many spots...I'll keep my mind open.
